As a result of jointly conducted complex measures, the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Border Police arrested a total of 6 citizens of Nigeria, Bangladesh, Iran, Turkey and Russia.
It was determined that the detained persons resided in the country without legal grounds, taking into account the Law of Georgia “On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons”. They abused the terms provided for in the asylum procedure and stayed in the country for years without legal grounds.
The detainees ignored the terms specified in the deportation decision, which implies voluntary departure from the country, as a result of which the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs made a decision to detain the said persons.
In order to enforce the decision, the detained persons are currently being held in the Migration Department's temporary accommodation center with a view to their subsequent return to their country of origin.
