As a result of complex operational measures and investigative actions, officers of Khelvachauri Police Division of Adjara Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Customs Department of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance arrested a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, - S.Sh., born in 1982, on charges of attempting to illegally purchase a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs.
The committed crime envisions up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
The investigation established that the accused person attempted to purchase a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs sent to Georgia from abroad.
Law enforcement officers arrested S.Sh. In order to expose the accused person, within the framework of implemented operational measures, an undercover delivery of a parcel sent to him from abroad to Georgia was carried out, after which S.Sh. was arrested as a defendant. A particularly large amount of“cocaine” drug hidden in jars was seized as evidence from the parcel sent to the detainee, which he intended to purchase.
An investigation is underway under Article 19-260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia into the fact of an attempted illegal purchase a particularly large amount of narcotic drug.
