Ministry of Internal Affairs Detained 7 Individuals on Charges of Promoting and Providing Space for Prostitution

Law enforcement officers have detained 7 Thai citizens and closed 10 facilities on charges of promoting and providing space for prostitution.

An investigation conducted by the officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including undercover investigative actions based on the relevant court decision, revealed that the defendants systematically supported women involved in prostitution. In particular, they provided them with lodging in facilities located on Nikoladze, Vashlovani, Kostava and Akhvlediani streets in Tbilisi in exchange for a certain amount of cash.

The investigation also established that the administrators of the aforementioned venues assisted women involved in prostitution in finding clients, and in return, received certain amount of cash from them after providing sexual services.

It was established that the main income of the aforementioned establishments was the promotion of prostitution.

As a result of the complex operational measures and investigative actions, the police arrested 7 administrators and closed 10 facilities.

The investigation is underway under Article 254, I and II parts of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to the promotion and providing lodging to prostitution.
