The officers of the first division of Vake-Saburtalo division of MIA detained Avtandil K. (Dob 1982) for persecution of journalist of “Asaval-Dasavali” newspaper -Zaza Davitaia. On Octomber 22, 2014 in vicinities of Chavchavadze street, detainee verbally and phisically insulted journalist Zaza Davitaia. Journalist was transferred to the hospital and rendered medical assistance. As a result of investigative activities the law enforcers detained Avtandil K. on the second day.
The detainee has already pleaded guilty.
Investigation is in progress under the article 156, part II, sub-paragraph “A” of the Criminal Code of Georgia (Persecution for speech, opinion, conscience, religious denomination, faith or creed or political, public, professional, religious or scientific pursuits).
