The Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri along with the Prime Minister - Irakli Gharibashvili, the President of Georgia - Salome Zurabishvili, the Speaker of the Parliament Kakha Kuchava, members of the Government and representatives of the diplomatic corps paid a visit to Mukhatgverdi Brothers Cemetery. The Minister of Internal Affairs paid tribute to the memory of the soldiers fallen during the Russian-Georgian war in August 2008.
During the war in August 2008, the Ministry of Internal Affairs lost 14 police officers and 5 employees of the Coast Guard.
