As a result of jointly conducted operational measures and investigative actions, officers of Khelvachauri Police Division of Adjara Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Customs Department of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance, a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, R.O., born in 2000, was arrested on charges of illegal purchase and storage of a particularly large amount of psychotropic substances and illegal import into Georgia.
The crime envisions up to 12 years of imprisonment.
Law enforcement officers discovered 1,581 capsules containing the psychotropic substance "pregabalin" on the territory of the border checkpoint "Sarpi" as a result of a personal search of the accused person.
The police detained R.O. as a suspect.
The investigation is in progress under Articles 261 and 263 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
