As a result of operational measures and investigative actions conducted at different times, officers of the Detectives (Operational) and Investigation Divisions of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as Mestia Police Department, arrested 2 individuals - M.G., born in 1970, and L.Q., born in 1980, who had a previous conviction, on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition.
The committed crimes envision up to 6 years of imprisonment.
Law enforcement officers seized 3 automatic firearms, magazines, cartridges and explosives as evidence during personal search and search activities held in a vehicle, residential buildings and storage facilities.
An investigation into the illegal purchase and storage of firearms is underway under Article 236, Part III of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
